Call for Submissions: Fiction

THE BASICS

Send your fiction submissions as an attachment to fiction@queenmobs.com

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Here are a few suggestions to consider before submitting to QMT:

Read the fiction we publish. You can check it all out here.

Please only submit one story at a time and send it in a word document if possible.

Send a short bio. You don’t have to, but it is much easier to have them up front so we don’t have to send a million emails back and forth in great confusion.

You can learn more about me and what I write on my website where I have links and things or on twitter @allisonuccia.

Here are other sites where some of our contributors also appear:

TRANSLATIONS

I would like to open our submissions to translators of new fiction from around the world. As fiction editor I am looking for work that reaches beyond navel gazing in general, but translation allows us as readers and writers to reach beyond our own hang-ups about language, place and identity.  Also, I am a translator and I think we, English language readers, need more space to find good translations.  If you do submit a translation you do need to have permission from the original rights hold and I will need you to send proof of that before publication. This is a new adventure for QMT and there will be more information soon!  For now check out some of the places publishing new translations that I love: Three Percent, Burning Deck Press, The American Reader, the Buenos Aires Review.

PLEASE DO NOT

Send work that isn’t your very best.

Send submissions with a blanket cover letter.

Send submissions with a bunch of magazines cc’d all at once.

Include the work in the body of the email. Attachments only please.

I am looking forward to reading your writing. Please be patient as I like to give every piece a thorough read but if you’re worried after a month or so that you haven’t heard from me, send another email.  I like a lot of writing of all sorts, don’t hesitate to send any kind of piece you feel is a good fit for the Teahouse.  I will do my best.
