POEM: Nicky Osborn

Drive

It’s hard to drive a piece
Of what I want to say
From what I say.
You eat mouthfuls, anyway,
Of the nicer bits;
The softer splits in tone
Where the brunt of the bones
Are picked, used to stick in
The ground (signposts to line
The hummelled pursuit of
Liking you a little too often,
And more than often, a lot).

Nicky Osborn graduated from the University of Roehampton in 2016 with a BA in Creative Writing. He is the author of LOBSTER POT, longlisted by Masterclass' Pitch Your Play programme in 2020. Two of his poems are also featured in the Bollocks to Brexit anthology (2019) edited by Ambrose Musiyiwa.
