Poem: Shy Watson

Illo for Shy Watson's poem.

Untitled

my mom
doesn’t have
bitch face
she has
bitch voice
and
bitch words

i hate
how much
i hate her
and i’m
nervous
i’ll regret
this when
she dies

i try to find something redeeming
when she takes me to culvers for dinner
and i’m a vegetarian

i tell her i’m moving again
she shakes her head she
says she couldn’t handle
not having property
but
it just sits there
and gets mowed
sometimes
by the neighbors

their house
it won’t
stop growing
i think
of mrs. winchester
but my step dad
doesn’t believe
in ghosts

my mom
when she
was little
she saw
ghosts
she felt
ghosts
and
astral
projected

where is
that girl
now
the girl
who saw
the ghosts?
