Look at Computers All Day and All Night

In an interview, Prince stated that the body wasn’t meant to take in constant media. To watch TV nonstop. To look at computers all day and all night. He was talking about what it means to be embodied. To live with images. To absorb things on a cellular level. This while the media endlessly reports on Prince’s death. The same thing over and over. Death as tautology.

Later, in another interview, Gary Shandling is asked about how he “deals with fame.” It is 2006 and he answers, “You cannot get caught up in the result of your work.” And it stuns me because it’s so profound, so true. Because we live in a world of results over work.
